Diante Jeramine Willis, 22, of Gaffney. Murdered one Jerry Lee Scalf Jr., 27.




A man was shot and killed in a neighborhood street in Cherokee County, according to Sheriff Steve Mueller.
Mueller said deputies were called to Coach Hill Drive around 9:10 p.m. Friday.
Investigators believe the victim and alleged gunman were involved in an argument when the shooting happened.
Mueller said witnesses were able to give deputies information and a description of the suspect, who was arrested a short time later after a short chase on foot.
The Cherokee County coroner identified the victim as Jerry Lee Scalf Jr., 27.
Mueller identified the suspect as Diante Jeramine Willis, 22, of Gaffney. Willis is facing a charge of murder, Mueller said.

As the investigation into the shooting continues, Mueller said deputies are still searching for the handgun used in the shooting. Mueller said anyone in the Coach Hill Drive neighborhood who sees a handgun on their property should call 911 and should not touch or move the weapon.
