When we broke down, we actually walked on the side of the
freeway to avoid the hood at night. Knowing full well that a
trooper would stop for us. And one did. He gave us a ride for
about 17 miles to our exit in the better part of town. We told
him that we would get lost and mugged off of the freeway,
and he agreed. Saying it was his job to keep drivers safe.
That’s all this guy had to do. The officer would have gladly taken
him to a safer area (within limits of destination). There was no
reason whatsoever for the guy to come unglued like he did. Zero.
I have personally have always found State Troopers to be helpful
and for the most part, even friendly. I think Troopers everywhere
deserve a lot of respect. They have a tough, lonely job.
