Rival Gangs involved in Retaliatory Highway Shooting that may be connected to Upstate Nightclub Shooting. 1 Dead.



The deadly Saturday crash on I-26 likely resulted from a retaliatory shooting involving moving vehicles, Spartanburg Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Kevin Bobo said.

Investigators are looking into a connection between the crash and a shooting about an hour earlier inside Club Rehab, officials said.

The first shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. Saturday at the club located on Kensington Drive. A man was injured in the shooting and taken to a hospital with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening, officials said.
The single-vehicle fatal wreck happened on I-26 at mile marker 24 around 4:50 a.m. Saturday morning. The coroner said Jerferron Talbert, 29, of Ware Shoals died at the scene.
“The investigation has also revealed the incident resulted from a dispute between rival gang members and is further compounded since the majority of the people involved aren’t local residents,” Bobo said.
The coroner said Talbert was not wearing a seat belt.
An autopsy has been scheduled.
“Incidents like this one are why the nightclub ordinance was proposed to county council earlier this year,” Bobo said.
