At about 8:30 p.m. an officer working on South Main Street in Greenville saw the stolen SUV drive through barriers that were set up for the Liberty Bridge Jump-Off, a pole vaulting exhibition scheduled for Saturday, police said.
Officers said a woman, later identified as Moreno-Berrios, drove onto the sidewalk and back on the roadway near the Main Street Bridge.
Police said she drove through the barriers at the other end of the event site, where an officer tried to perform a traffic stop.

Moreno-Berrios refused to stop, turned onto East Broad Street and a chase began, police said.
They said it ended when the SUV hit an occupied vehicle on Spring Street at East Court Street.
Moreno-Berrios got out of the passenger side of the stolen SUV and ran to a church, according to police.
Police said she tried to get into the church but was stopped by officers. Officers said Moreno-Berrios was extremely combative during her arrest.
Moreno-Berrios was taken to the Greenville County Detention Center but was taken to a medical facility when she complained of arm and shoulder pain, officers said.

Police said since the snake was alive and nonvenomous, it was released into the woods.
