After being chained up in a storage container for more than two months and rescued by Spartanburg County’s sheriff’s deputies, Kala Brown was awarded millions in compensation by a judge, according to court documents.

South Carolina serial killer Todd Kohlhepp was ordered to pay Brown a total of more than $6.3 million after he kidnapped and held held the woman hostage nearly two years ago, according to documents filed in a Spartanburg County court.

The ruling came after Brown’s legal team filed a motion for the judge to issue a judgment in the case and Kohlhepp or his attorney didn’t respond, according to court documents. The lawsuit, which was filed in Nov. 2016 — less than a month after Brown was rescued from Kohlhepp’s Woodruff property — was adjudicated Wednesday.

In the suit, Brown and her lawyers accused Kohlhepp of assault, battery, false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence, according to court documents. Brown was awarded more than $1.5 million for costs she already incurred, like medical expenses, after her imprisonment and more than $4.7 million for future damages.
Kohlhepp is currently serving seven consecutive life sentences for the murder of seven people, three of which were found on the same property Brown was being held on, the Greenville News reported. The other four were killed inside a Superbike Motorsports in 2003, Fox Carolina reported.
Brown still has a lawsuit pending against Kohlhepp’s real estate company, according to court documents. That lawsuit alleges the company hired Kohlhepp despite his criminal history and conviction for kidnapping.
While working for the company, Kohlhepp would pay Brown to clean homes he was selling or renting, according to court documents. Brown was called to clean a home on Aug. 31, 2016, the day she was locked in the shipping container.
To pay damages to his victims and their families, Kohlhepp is auctioning off his belongingsfrom his Woodruff property, according to the auction’s site. The online auction is slated to begin Saturday at 5 p.m.

Serial Killer Todd Kohlhepp Claims 2 More Bodies Buried Near Interstate ..

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- A South Carolina serial killer already serving life in prison for seven slayings told authorities he has two additional victims buried near an interstate, a sheriff said Tuesday. Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright said investigators are bringing Todd Kohlhepp to the county to lead them to the supposed location of the bodies, the Greenville News reported.
"We're trying to get a game plan together to find out exactly where and what to do. Investigators have been talking to him," Wright said. "We're not going to try to keep that quiet. We're going to go search."
Kohlhepp told investigators that two people are buried near Interstate 26 in Spartanburg County in the northwest part of the state. Wright is unsure who the supposed additional victims are or exactly where they are, he said.

"We haven't been able to confirm anything he's claimed yet," Wright said. "It's not to say that the details are not sketchy because it's been so long, but we're obligated to go check."
Kohlhepp is serving seven consecutive life sentences without parole at Broad River Correctional Facility in Columbia after pleading guilty to multiple charges in May 2017. "48 Hours" investigated the case in the episode, "Buried Truth."
His string of crimes was uncovered in 2016 after police rescued Kala Brown from a storage container where she was chained at the neck and investigators found a body buried in a shallow grave. Brown told investigators she saw Kohlhepp shoot and kill her boyfriend, 32-year-old Charles Carter, who went with her for a cleaning job on Kohlhepp's property in rural Spartanburg County.
Kohlhepp raped Brown while holding her against her will, and told her he had also killed a husband and wife in December 2015, burying their bodies on his land. Johnny Joe Coxie, 29, had been killed immediately, and Kohlhepp kept 26-year-old Meagan Leigh McCraw-Coxie alive for six days before shooting her in the back of the head on Christmas, Solicitor Barry Barnette said.
The Associated Press typically doesn't identify victims of sexual assault, but Brown has spoken publicly about her traumatic experience.

Kohlhepp admitted to her that he had killed four people in the Superbike motorcycle shop in November 2003, the prosecutor said. The owner, Scott Ponder, 30; Beverly Guy, 52; Brian Lucas, 30; and Chris Sherbert, 26 were killed because Kohlhepp thought they were making fun of him. Guy was Ponder's mother and worked as a bookkeeper. Lucas was a service manager, and Sherbert was a mechanic at the shop.
Kohlhepp's crimes took place over more than a decade as he ran a real estate business.
According to the plea agreement signed by Kohlhepp, he will serve seven consecutive life terms plus 60 years on kidnapping, sexual assault and other charges. Kohlhepp will not be eligible for parole, and he also agreed not to appeal the sentence.
Kohlhepp moved to South Carolina in 2001 shortly after 14 years in prison for pleading guilty to kidnapping in Arizona. Authorities there said the then 15-year-old forced a 14-year-old neighbor back to his home at gunpoint, tied her up and raped her.
Friends and co-workers at Kohlhepp's real estate business said he was a hard worker with some strange habits. He would watch pornographic videos during work and joked on his firm's website that he motivated workers by not feeding them.

SOME JUDGES ARE NO GOOD ...

A man who investigators said tried to solicit a minor to be his sex slave and who wanted to cannibalize a child victim will not go to prison, despite a guilty plea.
Justin Teeter Bensing, 47, of Myrtle Beach, pleaded guilty earlier this month to two counts of solicitation of a minor.

Bensing was among 40 people arrested in February following an investigation called Operation Millstone that targeted child predators and sex traffickers in the Upstate.
At a news conference about the arrests, then-Sheriff Will Lewis said, "These are the worst kinds of human beings you can possibly find.”
Lewis said Bensing wanted to cannibalize a child victim.
Undercover officers said Bensing tried to solicit an officer he thought was a child and asked if she was “ready to be a full-time baby maker and sex slave.” He also talked about having a sexual fetish and requested that he be able to drink her urine.
Bensing’s lawyer said his client was joking about cannibalism and it shouldn’t have been part of the investigation.
According to court records, Bensing pleaded guilty Aug. 9 to two counts of solicitation of a minor.
He was sentenced to 10 years in prison suspended to five years’ probation.
Bensing had been out on bond since shortly after his arrest.

Daughter Disappears On A Cold January Day

It was a cold January 2005  day in Andrews, S.C., when Crystal Soles called her father for a ride  home. He was in failing health and was unable to pick her up. Crystal  assured her father it was not a problem and told him she would walk  home. "That's OK Dad; I will walk" are the last words her loved ones  have heard from her in more than five years.

No one knows what happened to Crystal. There have been multiple  searches, but no trace of her has ever been found. The CUE Center for  Missing Persons has also helped in the search. Earlier this year,  Crystal's case became the 10 of diamonds in a deck of cards produced by  Effective Playing Cards and distributed in prisons and jails. The  playing cards have led to the arrest and conviction of previously  unsolved murder cases.

As a family member says, "people in this community knew her and what  happened; it breaks my heart as they just go about their lives. All we  ask is to get Crystal back and for final answers."
