Arab's started Slavery.
Ottoman Turks chained Christian slaves to war ships and used them as rowers. This was a literal death sentence as the slaves were almost never allowed to leave the ship and 100% of the time went down with the ship or rowed until they died of exhaustion. Their entire navy was built off of slave-powered war ships. America did not invent the cruelty of slavery.

Whites were Slaves also. Yet they moved on.
