Charleston, SC

The attorney for the family of Brittanee Drexel has released a statement about a man who was once linked to Drexel's disappearance.
However, Taylor's attorney, Mark Peper, said the sentencing has been postponed for up to six weeks because of "a matter of law." It is not yet clear what legal issue is delaying the sentencing.
Attorney Bradley Conway, who represents the Drexel family released the following statement Tuesday evening:
Although Brittanee Drexel's family watches this case with interest, it is not directly connected to the Drexel case. The desire to find the truth behind the allegations that Mr. Taylor was involved in the disappearance and murder of Brittanee Drexel is as solid as ever as the investigation continues. The family believes that time and further investigation will lead to the prosecution of the violent criminals responsible for Brittanees murder. Dawn Drexel, Brittanees mother, continues to ask the public for information regarding her daughters murder and remains as determined as ever to bring those responsible to justice.
A civil rights leader who is helping Taylor's family welcomes the sentencing delay.
"We need a little more time, a little more time for the Department of Justice to look over our case," John Barnett said after court.
Taylor has already served probation for the armed robbery on the state level.
Taylor’s family and supporters came to court Tuesday.
Barnett says Taylor had nothing to do with Brittanee Drexel’s disappearance and murder.
He's not convinced Drexel is dead.
"We haven't found any bones in an alligator pit. We haven't found any sign that she is actually deceased," Barnett said after court. "But yet they are trying to take someone to jail or utilize this particular murder to send someone to jail."
Taylor’s attorney believes the feds filed charges to try to get information from him about the Drexel case.
A jailhouse informant told FBI agents Taylor and his dad played roles in kidnapping, raping and shooting Drexel dead, then dumping her body in an alligator pit near McClellanville.
Taylor said he was in school at the time.
He is facing up to 20 years in federal prison.
The U.S. Attorney's Office declined to comment on the sentencing delay for Taylor.

MAKE YOU SICK ...

No Jail Time for John Ludwig After Guilty Plea to Reckless Homicide. He Walked ??

UPDATED : 02-01-2013

Found out just day's ago that John Ludwig's Sentencing Judge Purchased a New
Lake Front House on Lake Keowee just 5 Months after letting him Off with No
Prison Time though he killed a man ... not to mention all the other Felony Charges.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

No Jail Time for Ludwig After Guilty Plea to Reckless Homicide
The solicitor recommended a 10 year prison term in the crash that killed a man in his Travelers Rest home. Ludwigs' car went completely through the house. Clearing the 6 ' foot privacy fence out back
completely.

John Ludwig pleaded guilty to reckless homicide in a Greenville courtroom Monday morning, but will serve no jail time.
Judge Judge James C. Williams Jr. sentenced Ludwig to five years probation, suspended to three years probation. Ludwig must also serve 500 hours of community service.
The 13th Circuit Solicitor's Office recommended the maximum sentence of 10 years in prison for Ludwig on this reckless homicide charge. The murder charge against Ludwig has been dismissed.
Solicitor Bob Ariail said the following after the sentencing of John Ludwig: "We strongly believed, as an advocate, that Mr. Ludwig deserved an active prison sentence and urged the Judge to impose the maximum ten year sentence. We were shocked at the sentence imposed. However, Retired Judge James Williams, who was specifically appointed by the Chief Justiceto handle this case, is ultimately responsible for determining the proper punishment. He considered everything we presented and made his decision, and I have no doubt he fairly and thoroughly considered the evidence and imposed the sentence he felt was correct."
Solicitor Bob Ariail says DNA on the airbag of the Maserati confirms Ludwig was behind the wheel in April when his car crashed into the home of Frederic Bardsley in Travelers Rest. Ariailsays Ludwig was the only person in the vehicle.
In court, Ariail says the chief legal counsel of SDI, Ludwig's former company, was traveling in front from of Ludwig when Ludwig passed him on the left pulled in front of him and went off the right side of Roe Ford Road. The posted speed limit is 35 miles per hour and is posted no passing.
Ariail says experts determined Ludwig was traveling at least 85 miles an hour when the accident happened.
Ariail says in court that Ludwig has 24 traffic citations - most cited as speeding by Ariail - since 1992. Ludwig's attorney says all but two of the speeding violations were 10mph above the posted limits for those offenses.
Ludwig's attorney says alcohol or drugs did not play a role in what happened when he crashed his car into the Bardsley home on on April 25, 2009. The defense introduced several witnesses to address the character of Ludwig before Judge Williams Jr.
Ludwig's family and friends were in court to testify to Ludwig's character.
Police say Ludwig was driving more than 85 mph and lost control of his Maserati April 25. The car sped across a field before plowing into the back of 62-year-old Frederic Bardsley's home. Bardsley was killed. His wife, who was upstairs, was unhurt, and Ludwig suffered minor injuries.
